To clear the memory in a BlackBerry

Settings > Options > Security Options > General Settings > Menu > Wipe Handheld

To download contacts into the BlackBerry from a Mac

  1. Connect the BlackBerry to the laptop with the USB/charge cable. That should launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Click Contacts (over on the left)
  3. Sync (over on the upper right)

To upload pictures from the Blackberry to a Mac

General notes about the camera:

To configure Bluetooth on the Mac:

  1. Open System Preferences -> Bluetooth
  2. Enable "On" and "Discoverable" and "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar".
  3. Click "Sharing Setup".
  4. Enable "Bluetooth Sharing".
  5. Highlight "Bluetooth Sharing".
  6. Set "When receiving items" to "Accept and Save".
  7. Leave "Folder for accepted items" set to "Downloads".

To configure Bluetooth on the Blackberry:

  1. Go to "Blackberry Setup".
  2. Go to "Set Up Bluetooth".
  3. If it doesn't say "Bluetooth: Enabled" at the top, click the Menu key (to the left of the trackball) and select "Enable Bluetooth".
  4. Find Bluetooth devices (I forget how)
  5. When the Blackberry finds the Mac, it'll prompt for a number. Make one up, like "12345".
  6. Over on the Mac, type in the numbers.
  7. The Mac and the Blackberry should now be paired, so they can talk to on another.

To upload a picture from the Blackberry to the Mac:

  1. In the Mac, use the Bluetooth icon in the menu-bar to turn on Bluetooth.
  2. In the Blackberry, go to Camera.
  3. Click the Menu key (to the left of the trackball) and select "View Pictures".
  4. Use the trackball to highlight a picture.
  5. Click the Menu key (to the left of the trackball) and select "Send Using Bluetooth".
  6. The Blackberry will ask you to "Select a device:". Select the Mac.
  7. As the file transfers, you'll get progress dialogs on both the Blackberry and the Mac.
  8. Find your photo on the Mac in the Downloads folder.
  9. Delete the photo from the Blackberry so you have room for more.
  10. On the BlackBerry, go to "BlackBerry Setup" and "Set Up BlueTooth". Click the Menu key and select "Disable BlueTooth".
  11. Turn off BlueTooth in the Mac.
